Action against media team criticised
GILGIT, March 17, 2006: President of the Gilgit Union of Journalists Imtiaz Ali Taj has severely criticised police action against journalists from Islamabad and Rawalpindi who had come to the Diamer district of Northern Areas to see the Bhasha dam and speak to local leaders who had invited them.
According to him, Kohistan police officials forced the journalists to leave the site, misbehaved with them and smashed camera of a private TV channel. Mr Taj said that because of the expected visit of President Pervez Musharraf to Diamer-Bhasha dam site the entire area had been declared as a ‘no-go zone’ for journalists.
