Acid attack convicts get 24-year hard jail

BAHAWALPUR: The Lahore High Court (Bahawalpur bench) on Wednesday handed down 24-year hard jail with a fine of Rs29,000 each to three convicts in an acid attack case. They will also have to pay Rs1.1 million as diyat to victims.

According to the prosecution, convicts Sajjad Ahmed, Khuda Baksh and Ahmed alias Doda had thrown acid on Rabia and her mother Pathani last year. Both sustained serious burns while Rabia lost her two eyes as well.

An anti-terrorism court had sentenced sever-year rigorous imprisonment to the three convicts. The judge also ordered to remove both eyes of the main convict, Sajjad Ahmed.
