Accused in journalist’s murder case granted bail

SUKKUR: Shahnawaz Brohi, main accused in journalist Ameer Bux Brohi murder case, was released by the police on Friday night as the high court circuit bench, Larkana granted him bail before arrest on December 11th for 15 days.

Police also released the remaining 17 persons, who were arrested the other day. Haji Ellahi Bux Brohi, father of Ameer Bux Brohi alleged that police had released the main accused without any interrogation. TPO, city, Shikarpur, has said that he had no information about the release of Shahnawaz Brohi, he advised to contact New Faujdari police station in this connection.

When New Faujdari police station was contacted, one official confirmed about the release of Shahnawaz Brohi.

Meanwhile, police have arrested one dacoit after an encounter near Toll Plaza, in the jurisdiction of “A” section police station, Kandhkot on Friday night.

According to the details, some armed dacoits blocked the road near Toll Plaza, and tried to loot the passenger vehicles. Meanwhile, mobile party of “A” section police station reached on the spot. The dacoits seeing the police opened fire, which was returned by the police.

The encounter lasted for an hour, resultantly one dacoit Shabbir Ahmed received injuries and was arrested while remaining dacoits managed to flee. Later, the injured dacoit was shifted to local hospital.

Also, engine of Dadu passenger train derailed at Habib Kot railway station, near Lakhi Ghulam Shah on Saturday. Dadu-bound Dadu passenger train, when reached near Habib Kot railway station, two wheels of its engine went off and as a result the engine derailed.

However, no casualties were reported. Later, another engine was summoned from Sukkur, and train left for its destination. Efforts were under way to lift the derailed engine. Railway sources claimed that, due to the incident loss of Rs 2 millions caused to the railway
