AC to hold rally for wage award implementation

LAHORE- The Joint Action Committee (JAC) for protecting rights of newspaper employees has announced to hold protests during the meeting of All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) and Council for Pakistan Newspapers Editors (CPNE), which would be held in the city.

The committee in its emergency meeting, announced that the newspaper employees would hold a silent protest in front of tube hotel, where APNS meeting would be held soon to press the newspaper owners to implement the 7th wage award.

The meeting, which was attended by Jang Workers Union President Haji Ibrahim, President Lahore Press Club Moin Azhar, Punjab Union of Journalist Secretary Muhammad Akram, Nawa-i-Waqat Workers Union President Din Mouhammad Dard and others, observed that the newspaper employees would continue to wage struggle for implementing the wage board award and would defend the Newspaper Employees Act (1973).

The meeting asked tube government not to issue advertisement to those newspapers, which do not recognize the 7th wage award. They also asked the newspapers owners to give equal coverage to statements of newspaper employees along with the news of APNS and CPNE.
