8th Advertising Excellence Awards-2004

KARACHI – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shaikh Rasheed Ahmed has said that no further changes in Sindh are under consideration and the changes being brought about at the centre would be long-lasting.

“An economics expert would run the affairs of the country which would ensure prosperity and progress in near future”, he said, while talking to the mediafolk after giving away the 8th Advertising Excellence Awards-2004 to the members of Pakistan Advertising Association (PAA) at a local hotel on July 13. The ceremony, organised by the PAA, was also addressed by the Patron-in-Chief, PAA, S H Hashmi, and Chairman (Sindh-Balochistan) of PAA Mahmood Parekh.

The minister congratulated the recipients of awards and hoped that the members of the PAA would continue their efforts to meet future challenges in the field of advertising. He said the issue regarding imposition of fixed tax on advertisement agencies would be resolved within a couple of days and they would have to pay tax on income.

While referring to stoppage of government advertisements to newspapers, the minister said he had never been supporter of the idea of depriving any newspapers of government advertisements. ” I attribute stoppage of government advertisements to Nawa-e-Waqt to my own inability”, he said, and added that the issue would soon get resolved.

Later, while answering reporters’ question, he said Pakistan was not sending troops to Iraq.

Three awards each were given away in five categories while one each was given in the remaining 14 categories. Besides the ‘Best Mass Medium of the year 2004 Award’ in print media went to Daily Nawa-i-Waqt which was received by its Resident Editor Sajjad Meer while Imran Aslam, chairman GEO TV received the ‘Best Mass Medium of the Year 2004 Award’ in electronic media on behalf of GEO TV.

The Grand Award for Multi Media Campaign went to M/S Evernew Concepts (Pvt), Ltd., for their creation “zindgi main bharo nya rang” of Tapal Tea (Pvt) Ltd while the Royal Award in the same category went to Paragon Advertising (Pvt), Ltd., for their creation “Engro Urea (cotton)” for Engro Chemicals (Pakistan) Ltd. The Super Award in this category was given to Evernew Concepts Pvt Ltd for their advertisement “School ab ban gya hey Skooz” of Service Sales Corporation.

The advertisement, “Buy low, fly high” of British Airways, a creation of Publicis Pakistan (Pvt). Ltd., won Grand award in the category of ‘Print Advertising (Colour)’ while the Ad, “Destined to Excel”, prepared by Mass Advertising (Pvt) Ltd for Habib Bank Ltd, won Royal Award in the same category. The Super Award in this category went to Transworld Advertising (Pvt). Ltd., for their creation, “Ab aya ketchup ka maza” for M/S Young Food Products.

The Grand Award in Print Advertising (Black & White) went to Orient Advertising (Pvt). Ltd., for Ad, “Ap ka muntikhib bank”, prepared for the National Bank of Pakistan while Synergy Advertising (Pvt). Ltd., won the Royal Award in the same category for their Ad, ‘The Little Giant’ they created for General Traders (Pvt). Ltd.. No company could clinch the Super Award in this category.

In the category of “Television Advertising of 31 to 60 minutes”,’ the Grand Award was won by Interflow Communication (Pvt). Ltd., for the Ad, ‘Butter Puff Snacks’ they produced for English Biscuit Manufactures. The Royal Award also went to the same agency for their Ad ‘Ponds Cold Cream’ they produced for Unilever Pakistan. The Super Award was won by Synergy Advertising (Pvt). Ltd., for the Ad, ‘Goli Fit hai’ they created for Reckitt Benckiser.

In the category of ‘Television Advertising of 15 to 30 minutes’, Paragon Advertising (Pvt). Ltd., won the Grand Award for the Ad ‘Shabnam from Al-Karam’ they produced for Al-Karam Textile Mills Ltd. The Royal Award went to Interflow Communication (Pvt). Ltd., for the Ad ‘Nestle Butter’ they created for Nestle Milkpak Ltd. Synergy Advertising (Pvt). Ltd., won the Super Award in this category for their creation “seenay ki jalan” produced for Reckitt Benckiser.

In the remaining 14 categories there was one (Grand Award or Royal Award) each. Mass Advertising (Pvt) Ltd., won the award for their Ad ‘Bachat ka Tarika’ created for their clients Madina Enterprises Ltd in the category ‘Corporate Advertising (Urdu newspapers).

In the ‘Corporate Advertising’ (English newspapers) category, the award was clinched by synergy Advertising (Pvt) Ltd for their creation, ‘Pehle Pakistan’, of Bank Al Falah, Limited.

In the category ‘Corporate Advertising (Brochure)’ Interflow Communication (Pvt) Ltd won the award for the brochure ‘BP in Pakistan’ they prepared for British Petroleum. The grand Award in category ‘Corporate Advertising (Annual Report)’ was won by Synergy Advertising (Pvt) Ltd for the report titled ‘Annual Report 2001’ of Bank Al Falah Ltd. Likewise the award in the category ‘Corporate Advertising (wall/table calander)’ was won by Adarts Karachi (Pvt) Ltd for the calander of Hamdard Laboratories (WAQF) Pakistan. In the category ‘Corporate Advertising (Promotional Material) Bond Advertising (Pvt). Ltd., won the prize for the pamphlet ‘Unilever International Art Project for Schools’ designed by them for Unilever Pakistan.

In the category ‘Public Service Print Advertising (colour) ad captioned ‘alif, bey pey tey’ of The Citizen Foundation, prepared by Bond Advertising Pvt Ltd won the award while in the category ‘Public Service Print Advertising (Black & white) Adgroup Pvt Ltd won the award on the ad ‘polio sey tahafaz-koi bacha reh na jaey’ they produced for their client National EPI program, Ministry of Health. Adgroup also won the award in the category ‘Public Service Television Advertising’ on the Ad ‘waldain ki ghaflat, Umer bhar ki hasrat’ they produced for their client National EPI program, Ministry of Health. Another winner of the award in this category was Paragon Advertising Pvt Ltd on the ad ‘Al-Karam Good Values’ prepared for Al-Karam Textile Mills Ltd.

The awards in the categories of ‘point of sale material (consumer /trade poster), point of sale material (Medical/pesticides Poster), Outdoor Advertising and, Package Design were won by Big Bang Communications Pvt Ltd, Synergy Advertising Pvt Ltd, Orient Advertising Pvt Ltd and Synergy Advertising Pvt Ltd respectively.
