7 new ministries unconstitutional
ISLAMABAD: Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee of National Security Raza Rabbani, calling the creation of seven new ministries unconstitutional, said that certain politicians and bureaucrats are the major hurdle in transfer of powers to the provinces.
Talking to the Committee’s review meeting on transfer of powers to provinces, Raza Rabbani said that certain powers tried to obstruct implementing of the 18th Amendment and they used various tactics to save ministries.
Rabbani said that 17 ministries have been shifted to provinces after the approval of the 18th Amendment but the power of provinces was robbed by creating seven new ministries.
The Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee of National Security expressed concern about the non-implementation of Article 172 of the Constitution despite the passing of two years. Senator Raja Zafarul Haq said that an impression is being given as if obstacles are being created in the implementation of 18th Amendment.
The Committee called for the submission of a report about the bottlenecks in the implementation of the 18th Amendment in its next meeting.
