6,432 HR violation cases reported in two months

ISLAMABAD: Almost 6,432 cases of Human Rights violations have been registered in the country during the moths of May and June this year.

According to the data provided by the Inspector General Police offices of the provinces, 1924 cases were registered in Sindh, 291 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 4217 in Punjab while the data from Balochistan has not been received.

The nature of cases includes murder, honour killing, kidnapping, rioting, torture, sexual assault etc, official sources of Ministry of Human Rights told APP.

They number of persons arrested in the said cases are 9312 including 1154 in Sindh, 264 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 4524 in Punjab.

Giving details they shared that in Sindh 277 murder cases were reported and 112 accused arrested in such cases, 20 cases of Karokari (honour killing) among which nine arrested, 130 cases of grievances hits among which 76 arrested, 355 cases of simple hits with 215 arrested accused, 522 cases of rioting with 325 arrests, 44 cases of sexual assault with 20 arrests, 571 cases of abduction with 397 arrests and 14 cases of suicide. –APP

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 291 cases were registered among which 155 cases are under investigation, challan of 136 has been submitted while 136 are pending in courts.

While in Punjab, 1465 cases were challaned in the two months, 2,035 are under investigations.
