50-year-old man killed by wife, teenage son

KARACHI: A 50-year-old man was stabbed to death on Monday allegedly by his wife and his teenage son who fled after locking the body in their flat near Patel Para, witnesses and police said.

The Jamshed Quarters police said that the victim, Nawaz, son of Sultan, lived with his wife, Rozina, and son, Nauman, in an apartment at Fatima Square and was killed in the small hours of Monday.

They said that the neighbours saw the woman and her son locking their flat and leaving at around 12.30am. Earlier, they had heard an exchange of hot words among the family members, the police said.

They said that the neighbours informed the victim’s younger brother about the altercation between the victim and his wife.

The police said that the victim’s brother, Shahzad, broke open the victim’s apartment door to find his brother in a pool of blood.

They said that the body was later shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for a post-mortem examination. Sources at the hospital’s medico-legal section told Dawn that the victim received multiple stab wounds in his upper torso. They said that the victim also received wounds to his head with a heavy object.

The Jamshed Quarters police registered a case (FIR 304/2009) against the victim’s wife and son under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the victim’s brother.

The police said that the victim did not do any thing for a living and his family was financially supported by his elder brother who was abroad. They said that a search for the suspects was mounted, but no clue to their whereabouts could be found so far.
