26 villages to get amenities

UMERKOT – Basic amenities for development work would be provided to 26 out of 100 villages within a month under a programme sponsored by the Asian Development Bank, it was said in a meeting held under the chairmanship of District Nazim Faqir Maghan Mangrio.

DCO Mushtaq Ahmed Shaikh, ED0s works and services department, Agriculture Department and officials of Sindh Rural Development Project, attended the meeting among others.

The meeting was informed the names of villages which would to be provided ‘all civic amenities under the first phase of the project, has been finalized in consultation with the UC Nazims and Taluka Nazims. The meeting was informed that Asian Development Bank-sponsored programme would be completed by June 2010.The meeting was further apprised that’Rs.7 to 17 lac would be estimated cost for each village.

Later on, District Nazim presided over a meeting to review the affairs of Pakistan Bait-ulMall Umerkot, where he was informed that funds to provide financial assistance to 82 needy and deserving peoples are available with Bait-ul-Mal Umerkot office.

It was decided in the meeting that District Zakwat Chairman and Taluka Nazims of four Talukas should recommend the names of destitute peoples with in a week so that they might be provided financial assistance. Meeting was informed that 25 applications across the District from disable persons have been received for provision of financial assistance to them.

District Nazim directed that after showing medical certificate relating to disability they should be nominated for stipend.

The meeting was attended by DCO, Muhammad Saleem Nohri Chairman District Zakwat committee and Khuda Bux Maher in charge Bait-ul-Mal Umerkot.
