24 women held for ‘vagrancy’ given bail

KHAIRPUR, May 09 2006: A gang-rape case was lodged on May 08 at the Thari Mirwah police on the orders of a court on the complaint of Zeenat Bhabhan. The case was lodged against suspects Munawar, Anwar, Deedar and Hakim Ali. Zeenat had complained to the additional sessions judge that the accused had made her hostage and gang-raped her at gunpoint.

When she visited the police station for registering the case, the police did not cooperate and instead threatened her. The judge directed the police to register her case and rest the accused. Reports said the police had registered the case, but had so far not arrested any accused.
