BoI bars officers from sharing information with media
ISLAMABAD: The Board of Investment (BOI) has barred all its officers at federal and provincial levels from sharing any information with media persons.
Instead of sharing information with potential investors and public at large to promote investments in this part of the world, in a strange directives given to all officers both at federal and regional offices, the BOI decided to keep maximum information to their chest that would raise doubts and suspicion about their routine activities.
According to circular issued by BOI couple of weeks back, a copy of which is available with The News, stating that all officers of BOI Islamabad as well as regional offices were hereby informed that no news/information would be shared with media without prior permission/approval of the secretary BOI.
a“The strict compliance in this regard is required, please,” the circular further states.
When contacted to BOI’s spokesman for seeking his comments on Wednesday, he said that it might be administration’s instruction to bar appearing of news items regarding personal issues of some officials.
“We have put all relevant information on our websites in order to inform investors’ about our activities,” he said and added that it might have been done to bar irrelevant information sharing with the media.
