HYDERABAD: A printing press owner has been arrested for publishing an anti-Pakistan advertisement in a Sindhi weekly newspaper. The advertisement contained content against Pakistan, the armed forces, intelligence agencies and the China Pakistan Economic Corridor project.

Raees Ahmed, owner of Pasban publishers, was arrested along with his employees from the press located on Pakha Pir incline along Station Road late on Monday night. On Tuesday, City police obtained his three-day remand from court.

During the initial investigation, the police have come to an assessment that Ahmed did not read the content. “The man is illiterate,” said City police station SHO Afzal Qureshi. “He received the ad from a person whom he couldn’t identify but didn’t read it because it was written in Sindhi language.”

Qureshi explained that Ahmed is Urdu-speaking. Police are looking for the press manager, Zahid, who could not be traced since the raid.
