IMPLEMENTATION OF CODE OF CONDUCT: MEDIA MONITORING & TRACKING CENTRE TO PLAY PIVOTAL ROLE
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid said on Tuesday that Media Monitoring and Tracking Center would play pivotal role in implementing media code of conduct and improve the governance system. Pervaiz Rashid expressed these views while inaugurating the “Media Monitoring & Tracking Center” project at Directorate of Electronic Media & Publication (DEMP). He said that the establishment of Media, Monitoring and Tracking Center in the country was the need of the time for improving the governance system.
He said that the center would play an important role in implementation of media code of conduct and would help in keeping contact between government and media. The minister said reports of the Media Monitoring Center would help facilitate the ministries not only to judge and hold accountable themselves but also improve their performance. He said that the center is equipped with modern technology, gadgets and is capable of monitoring as many as 80 TV channels.
He said that the government is committed to the security of Media Houses and working journalists in the country and is taking all necessary steps to create a congenial atmosphere where media persons could perform their obligations in accordance with their professional requirements without any fear.
