KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday issued notices to Labaik TV Chief Executive Officer Shoaib Ahmed Sheikh, its director Siddique Ismail on contempt of court application against them for disobeying the court orders.

The notices were issued on application of Mohsin Mujtaba, who sought attachment of assets and properties of Labaik TV and restraining order for commencing transmission of any of TV channels Bol News and Bol Entertainment.

Applicant Mohsin Mujtaba submitted that Labaik TV’s director Sidduqe Ismail had agreed to sell its company along with all moveable and immoveable assets and company’s goodwill, TV licence and equipments in June 12, 2009 for which initial sale consideration were duly received by him.

He submitted that defendant later avoided execution of transfer documents when he approached defendant to receive the outstanding amount. Applicant’s counsel Jamil Ahmed Virk submitted that the court had granted status quo on application of his client on March 29, 2013 when he sought injunction for execution of transfer documents of Labaik TV and restraining order from creating third party interest in the defendant’ company.

He submitted that applicant has learnt that despite court stay order, the defendant transferred the company to third party which has now commenced the test transmission of one of its channel namely Bol News. He contended that the court may enforce its stay order, attach defendant properties and arrest them.

The applicant also requested to restrain the defendants from commencing transmission of any of Bol News or Bol Entertainment.SHC’s single bench headed by Justice Nadeem Akhtar after preliminary hearing of the applications issued notices to alleged contemnors Shoaib A Sheikh and Siddique Ismail for June 25.
