Strengthening ties: Pakistan, Belarus to exchange media delegations

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Affairs Ifran Siddiqi said on Wednesday that exchange of media delegations between Pakistan and Belarus can help bring masses of the two countries closer and create awareness about each other’s cultures.

He was talking to Republic of Belarus Information Minister Ananich Lilia who called on him at the Prime Minister Office.

Irfan said that an independent, free and vibrant media was playing its role in Pakistan. He said the upcoming visit of the president of Belarus to Pakistan would help strengthen bonds between the two countries in various fields like media, economy, culture, education, trade and information technology. People of both the countries, he said, would greatly benefit from the cordial ties between the two countries. He also condoled with Ananich on the death of the mother of the president of Belarus on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan fully shared the grief of the president of Belarus and its people.

The information minister of Belarus said that the entire Belarusian nation was grieved at the demise of their president’s mother. She said that her country was thankful to Pakistan for rescheduling the visit of the president of Belarus due to the sad demise of his mother. She lauded Pakistani government’s efforts in the war against terrorism and underlined the need to make united efforts to combat this challenge. She said joint efforts were needed to promote peace in the world.

She said her country was interested to cooperate with Pakistan in various fields of mutual cooperation as mentioned by the special assistant to the prime minister. She added that Belarus would welcome Pakistani students in the School of Journalism being run by its National University. She also underlined the need for exchange of media delegations between the two countries. Ananich also invited Irfan to attend a media forum, scheduled to take place in Belarus next month. Delegates from 24 countries will participate in the media forum.
