178 City UCs linked with Nadra

KARACHI: Administrator, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Muhammad Hussain Syed has said that 178 UCs of Karachi have already been linked with the Nadra’s Civil Registration Management System (CRMS).

He said the system will help that all the citizens would now be issued with computerised certificates for birth, death; marriage and divorce which would be made alter proof. He said this in a meeting with the Nadra officers in his office, said a statement issued by the KMC on Thursday.

The administrator said that citizens could save themselves from lot of complications, if they fulfill their legal responsibility by timely registration of birth, death, marriage and divorce records and these documents were accredited in all countries including Europe.

The Director Operations Division Nadra on this occasion informed him that Nadra had launched new software as Civil Registration Management System under which four of the important documents could be registered at Nadra through concerned union council. These includes certificate for birth, death, marriage and divorce.

All the 6,550 union councils of Pakistan were imparted with the training on the issuance of computerized certificates and these UCs were also connected with the central system of National Database and Registration Authority.

So far 2233 union councils were made operational in this connection. Nadra had planned a media campaign for such areas which have low literacy rate and thus had fewer knowledge about the registration of important documents.

He said the Civil Registration Management System was launched by Nadra in 2006 and so far documents pertaining to about 1.5 crore people had been registered.This system had been fully implemented in Karachi and being gradually implemented in the interior Sindh.

He said the Nadra Information System would also be launched soon through which all the major governmental organizations including banks and embassies of different countries would be able to endorse these documents on line.

The Administrator KMC assured Nadra officers all possible support in the implementation of Civil Registration Management System. He further said that the KMC officials would be sent for training from Nadra so that they could serve the citizens in a better manner.
