‘Fatima Jinnah an inspiration for Pakistani women’

Karachi – On the occasion of 42nd anniversary of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Minister Information Sindh Shazia Marri called for women of Pakistan to take inspiration from the courage and selfless deeds of the mother of the nation.

In a statement issued here Wednesday, Marri said that Khatoon-e-Pakistan was a woman far ahead of her times. “Her positive outlook towards life and her ability to take charge were the result of her broad — based education. Her independence and progressive thought led her establishing a dental clinic over 80 years ago, a significant achievement and shining example,” she said.

Lauding Fatima Jinnah’s matchless role in the struggle for independence, Marri said that it was her selfless support of her brother, the Quaid-e-Azam, which enabled him to devote his life to the cause of independence. “The Quaid was truly blessed to have as his sister, a woman who provided unstinted support to him to fight for freedom” Marri said, adding that paying tribute to his sister, the Quaid himself once said that “my sister was like a bright ray of light and hope wherever I came back home and met her, anxieties would have been much greater and my health much worse, but for the restraint imposed by her.”

Remembering the courage and perseverance of Fatima Jinnah, Marri said that she never gave up, and continued to fight for justice. Shazia Marri said that the women of Pakistan are blessed to have as examples of exemplary women like Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah who devoted her life to achieve Pakistan and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who sacrificed her life to save it.”
